A mother in North Carolina experienced a terrifying road rage incident while driving with her 3-year-old son. The incident unfolded when another driver allegedly cut her off, brake-checked her, and threatened her life, causing distress to her young child.
Myeka Dunn was heading to her mother’s house with her son at around 4:30 p.m. last Friday. A dark blue sedan swerved into her lane, prompting Dunn to honk her horn. This action seemingly aggravated the other driver, who then tried to cut her off, repeatedly brake-checked her, and yelled violent threats.
Dunn recounted, “They almost hit me, so that’s when I honked my horn at them.”
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Dunn started recording the encounter as the aggressive driver trailed her down the highway. Video footage shared online shows the man leaning out of his vehicle, shouting “You are going to die!” while her son audibly cries.
Dunn called 911 and the Guilford Metro non-emergency line to report the incident. She informed dispatchers about the video evidence she had captured, but expressed dissatisfaction with the response from authorities.
According to Deputy Director of Operations Christine Moore, the dispatcher failed to follow correct procedures, such as not entering all relevant information, including the existence of a video.
The Greensboro Police Department issued a be-on-the-lookout (BOLO) alert based on reports about the dark blue sedan swerving through traffic. Although investigators identified the driver, no arrests have been made at this time.
Authorities advised Dunn to seek a misdemeanor warrant from the Magistrate’s Office, as the incident did not occur in front of officers. Dunn is currently pursuing this option.
