In Twin Falls, Idaho, a tragic shooting occurred at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. Among the deceased was the shooter, according to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks. Authorities are working to confirm the shooter’s identity and motive.
Chief Hicks assured that the threat to the community has ceased. However, details about the exact number of casualties remain uncertain, as officials focus on notifying the victims’ families. “It was a very chaotic scene,” Hicks stated.
Twin Falls County Commissioner Brent Reinke reported that Sheriff Jack Johnson informed him about five individuals who were injured during the incident.
Eyewitness Lane Koehn recounted seeing an individual with an AR-style rifle emerge from the drive-thru and start shooting. A man with a pistol returned fire. Koehn witnessed someone in an In-N-Out uniform attend to a gunshot victim, a fellow employee, wounded in the chest. Koehn and others stayed with her until paramedics arrived. Her condition remains unknown.
As police managed the situation, Koehn was instructed to evacuate due to ongoing danger. The shooter fired three to four rounds without clear targets, near a bustling shopping area with hundreds present. Chief Hicks mentioned ongoing interviews with witnesses and requested anyone with information to contact authorities.
Multiple agencies responded to the incident. Police advised residents to avoid the area while roads were closed for safety. St. Luke’s Magic Valley is coordinating with law enforcement and emergency services as they address the aftermath.
Twin Falls, a city home to about 56,000 residents, lies approximately 130 miles southeast of Boise and 75 miles north of the Nevada border.
