An allegedly intoxicated passenger from Georgia is accused of attacking two children playing tag aboard a Carnival cruise ship. The incident resulted in the man being confined to his cabin for the rest of the trip.
David Lawrence Crosby II, age 44, was arrested on July 27 on two counts of child abuse as recorded by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. The alleged assault took place on July 26 on the Carnival Glory, a cruise typically departing from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Bahamas.
Crosby reportedly encountered three children playing tag when he allegedly hit one child in the face, causing injuries, before hitting another in the stomach.
Officials confirmed the incident was captured on the ship’s security cameras. After his arrest, Crosby claimed to be heavily intoxicated and said he did not remember the incident.
Carnival Cruise Line released a statement to Fox News Digital, emphasizing their security team’s swift response. The accused was confined to his cabin, assessed a violation fee, and banned from future sailing with the cruise line. They stated, “We have zero tolerance for this type of behavior.”
Crosby was released after posting a $20,000 bond and pleaded not guilty during a court appearance. An arraignment is scheduled for August 25.
Carnival Glory had docked in Cozumel, Mexico, on December 21, 2023. The cruise line has not provided additional details about the incident.
