Resignation of FIFA Adviser Over Equity Plan
Senior FIFA adviser Carlos Cordeiro resigned in protest of a plan involving the sale of a stake in the World Cup through private equity. Cordeiro, a former U.S. Soccer Federation president, criticized the proposal as damaging to football. He urged others within FIFA to oppose the plan.
