Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson is widely regarded as the top player in women’s basketball today. Her achievements spark discussions about her status as possibly the best player overall.
In a conversation with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, Wilson reflected on being named among the greatest: “It’s crazy,” she said. “I can’t believe my name is on that list at this stage of my career. I feel like I have so much more to achieve.” She continued, “If I’m considered the GOAT, then great. Personally, I’ve felt like the greatest since ’96. But this is just a part of my journey.”
Wilson has a remarkable track record. She holds titles as the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, WNBA MVP, WNBA Finals MVP, and WNBA champion, being the first in history to achieve all these accolades in a single season. As the 2018 number one overall pick and an eight-time All-Star, Wilson is the only four-time MVP in the league, and she is not showing any signs of slowing down.
Going into Thursday’s games, Wilson leads the WNBA in scoring with 26.2 points per game and blocks with 2.0 per game. Her impressive stats include an average of 26.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.6 steals over 25 games for the 19-8 Aces team.
