Deebo Samuel began his NFL journey with the San Francisco 49ers after being selected in the second round of the 2019 draft from South Carolina. He spent the initial six years of his professional career with the team, contributing significantly to their success.
Samuel helped propel the 49ers to two Super Bowl appearances during his tenure. In 2021, he earned All-Pro recognition by amassing 1,770 yards from scrimmage and scoring 14 touchdowns.
Transition to Washington Commanders
In 2025, Samuel was traded to the Washington Commanders in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick. During his time with the Commanders, he caught 72 passes for 727 yards and secured five touchdowns in the previous season.
With his contract as a free agent concluding in March, Samuel rejoining the 49ers comes at a crucial time. He is expected to provide reinforcement for the team following Pearsall’s injury.
