As Thursday arrives, I find myself nearing the end of another bullpen stint, filling in for Joe on Screencaps. It’s always an experience. Today kicks off with Lexie Hull, an embodiment of leadership. Taking a cue from her, I must own up to contributing to the Yankees’ extra-inning defeat in Chicago.
Wednesday’s ‘Numbers From’ section suggested the Yankees had clinched 11 of their last 15 games. Normally, such stats are enticing. But mentioning a no-hitter prematurely isn’t wise. After the White Sox overturned a 4-0 lead, errors in the 11th inning led to their 6-5 win. That’s on my shoulders.
Lexie Hull, from the Indiana Fever, exemplifies taking charge. She consistently shows up, ready for action, contrasting her Indiana Fever teammates’ struggles. While some falter, the Fever have secured a four-game win streak. Her statistics reflect effort and leadership.
Shifting to an unusual narrative, a peculiar story emerged from Fresno, California. A man was discovered inside the wall of a plasma center. Reports initially described possible noises from the attic. Officers found nothing. Hours later, noises and eyes were seen peering from a wall. When officers found a man inside, he resisted with metal objects. Pepper balls were used, leading to his arrest. Before exiting, he damaged a water main, flooding the plasma center’s lobby and prompting evacuation of neighboring businesses.
