Fernando Mendoza Joins Las Vegas Raiders with Lucrative Contract

Quarterback Fernando Mendoza, selected as the top pick in this year’s draft, has secured a major contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. On Thursday, Mendoza inked a four-year deal valued at $57.27 million. The contract also includes a fifth-year option held by the Raiders.

Mendoza was the last among the Raiders’ 10 draft picks to sign his contract. Expressing his enthusiasm on the team’s social media platform, Mendoza stated, I’m excited to get this thing signed. I’m excited to be a part of the silver and black. Can’t wait.

During organized team activities and minicamp, Mendoza led the third-team offense. However, his role is expected to grow significantly as training camp kicks off this Wednesday.

Veteran Kirk Cousins, who has joined the team under a $20 million guaranteed free-agent agreement, will start the camp as the primary quarterback. The duration Cousins maintains this position will be a central focus both in the camp and potentially throughout the season.

Previously, Mendoza achieved notable success in college football. He won the Heisman Trophy and guided Indiana to a national championship, their first, in his final season.
