A man from California, Emmanuel Marchica, is facing allegations of sexually abusing children over many years. Investigators believe there may be more victims who have not yet come forward. The 51-year-old from Hollister was taken into custody on July 10 following an investigation by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, which began after a report of child sexual abuse surfaced on July 5.
Detectives moved quickly, conducting interviews and executing search warrants, which led to additional victims being identified and ultimately to Marchica’s arrest. His ties to the community are extensive; at the time of his arrest, he was serving as a pastor in San Benito County’s Hidden Valley community and working as a Jiu-jitsu instructor.
Monterey County investigators noted disclosures from victims date as far back as 2012, hinting that more victims or witnesses could still surface.
Beyond his pastoral duties, Marchica previously owned bakeries in Prunedale and Monterey and operated gyms in Sand City, Seaside, and Prunedale. Here, he also offered physical and massage therapy services. Investigators suspect his various roles in the community may have provided him access to more potential victims.
Marchica faces multiple felony charges, including engaging in lewd acts with a child, sexual penetration, and other offenses. His bail is set at $17.5 million. Authorities are urging anyone with information or who might have been victimized to reach out to the sheriff’s office.
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office encourages victims to come forward, reassuring they will be treated respectfully throughout the investigative process.
