Vance expressed sorrow over California’s condition, reflecting on his frequent visits due to his wife Usha’s connection to Southern California. “Because every time I’m in LA, you can see why this was like the quintessentially American city,” he said, lamenting the current state of areas like skid row, famous for its homeless encampments.
Rogan, a former resident of California, echoed these sentiments. He remarked on people struggling to sell homes as they attempt to leave, criticizing Governor Newsom’s perceived indifference. “Like, it’s nuts there, man. … First of all, you get gaslit by Gavin Newsom,” Rogan said, questioning the economic focus while ignoring social issues.
Both Vance and Rogan talked about the socioeconomic divide and growing homeless populations in Los Angeles. Rogan highlighted that skid row has expanded, increasing by five blocks.
