Stress Eating Amid Divorce
In a YouTube video uploaded on July 10, Jelly Roll admitted, “I’ve been overeating the last three or four days, feeling myself stress eating. Then, the addict in me came out.” He revealed that the tasty dairy-free skillet cookie at a show venue became a trigger. “I don’t eat anything like that. If I eat one, I eat two, then four,” he confessed. Later, he found himself at a taco truck indulging further. “Before I knew it, I’d consumed 2,000 extra calories,” he explained.
Jelly Roll’s plight is part of a lifelong battle. The Grammy nominee, once weighing over 500 pounds, has openly celebrated losing an impressive 275 pounds. He acknowledges, however, that his struggle with food continues.
Challenges of Moderation
The key difficulty Jelly Roll faces is moderation. “I can’t have one burger without wanting five,” he said, explaining his all-or-nothing mindset. This mentality extends to everything, making cheat meals potential triggers for what he called a “five-day food bender.” He stressed the importance of avoiding certain foods altogether to stay on track.
This realization has reshaped how Jelly Roll handles his relationship with food, paralleling his approach to past addictive behaviors.

Jelly Roll reflected on the mental health challenges that frequently accompany obesity. He stated, “You don’t become the size you became without having a mental health issue.” For him, understanding what he’s truly hungry for has been transformative.

Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo, who married in 2016, are now going through a divorce. He cited irreconcilable differences in court documents filed on May 18. They separated on May 9.
The couple met in 2015 and Bunnie Xo became a stepmother to Jelly Roll’s children, Bailee and Noah, following their Las Vegas wedding.
