Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has criticized leading Democrats for prioritizing ‘power’ over principles in their stance on Senate candidate Graham Platner. Bongino claims that Democrats only distanced themselves from Platner after determining his potential to win had diminished.
Bongino, speaking on ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ stated, ‘There were no principles involved here at all.’ He accused the left of opposing anti-communism efforts, focusing on advancing a communist agenda, and using Platner as a tool that is now ineffective for them.

Dan Bongino, who was Deputy Director of the FBI, had participated in a news conference at the Department of Justice on December 4, 2025. The conference covered the arrest of Brian Cole Jr., who allegedly placed pipe bombs near the Republican and Democratic National Committee offices on January 6, 2021.
Several prominent Democrats, including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Representative Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), Senators Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), have withdrawn their support for Platner. They urged him to exit the campaign after rape accusations surfaced.
Platner faced another allegation about a day later, according to a report by the Washington Post. His ex-girlfriend, Lyndsey Fifield, accused him of removing condoms during intercourse after she explicitly requested he use them.
The new accusation poses further risks to Platner’s campaign, already troubled by scandals as he tries to oust incumbent Senator Susan Collins.
Platner’s campaign has denied all accusations, labeling the latest accusation as ‘categorically false and politically motivated’ in their statement to The Washington Post. However, Platner’s campaign did not respond to previous requests for comment by Fox News Digital.
“This is not about any principle whatsoever,” Bongino emphasized. “It’s not about Platner’s stance on women, taxes, or anything else. This is about a simple power equation.”
He accused Democrats of using Platner as a tool to consolidate their power within the collectivist communist ideology. Bongino concluded that Platner was solely a means to an end, the acquisition of more power.
