President Donald Trump has declared the tentative ceasefire with Iran as “over” following an intensive overnight bombing campaign. This decision comes after Iran targeted commercial shipping, leading to escalated tensions.
“For me? I think it’s over,” Trump stated to reporters during a meeting with Secretary-General Mark Rutte at the NATO Summit in Ankara on Wednesday. He expressed disinterest in further dealing with Iran, labeling them as “scum.”
While there is still a possibility for talks with Iran, Trump considers these discussions futile, describing Iranian officials as “liars” and “cheats.”

Trump’s comments suggest an end to ongoing negotiations, which had previously led to both sides signing a memorandum. This agreement was meant to allow the resumption of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
However, Iran recently attacked at least three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday and Tuesday. In response, the U.S. military carried out strikes on over 80 targets within Iran.
