Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor Work on Building Stronger Team Dynamics

Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor, key figures of the New York Mets, initially struggled to bond as teammates. Despite high expectations, the team faces challenges this season. Lindor joined the team in 2021, signing a significant 10-year deal worth $341 million. Soto, later, became a part of the Mets in a landmark 15-year deal valued at $765 million.

Their initial disagreements were well-documented. Reports suggested tension possibly due to Soto’s contract benefits, which include added security and financial opportunities. Yet, recent updates indicate improvement in their relationship.

Steve Cohen, the Mets’ owner, acknowledged the rumors but affirmed the pair’s relationship had improved since last year. He expressed confidence in their current dynamic.

“Frankly, I think that’s a story from last year,” Cohen mentioned to the New York Post. “I am told and believe strongly that these guys are getting along much better.”

When questioned about their rapport, Soto shared an analogy, explaining that relationships need time to develop:

“When you meet a girl, you don’t start kissing her right away,” he told The Athletic.

Lindor also commented, emphasizing their improving relationship:

“The more time we spend together, it’s only natural that our relationship continues to grow. We’ve been teammates for two years now. Time has been on our side. I have nothing but respect for him,” he shared.

Reports indicated they had “hard conversations” but these discussions were part of regular communication between teammates.

“We talk every single day, whether it’s hitting or different topics. But we definitely talk because at the end of the day, we are teammates and our job is to win games,” Lindor explained.

Despite playing only 15 games together this season due to injuries, Soto and Lindor are committed to strengthening their partnership, slated to continue as teammates until 2032.
