President Trump recently addressed the ongoing issues at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, asserting that the troubles are not his fault. He spoke to reporters about the state of the pool, which has been plagued by green algae blooms and peeling polyurethane.
The pool has been the subject of a $16.4 million renovation ordered by Trump, but he claims the problems are due to other factors. Trump suggested that vandals may have sabotaged the renovation.
According to Trump, these vandals may have added fertilizer to the water, causing the algae blooms. Additionally, he mentioned that the polyurethane strips found floating in the pool were possibly cut by vandals using knives or box cutters.
Despite the accusations, the Interior Department, which oversees the National Park Service, confirmed the arrests of five individuals on vandalism charges. Five others have received citations.
