An American Airlines flight descended into chaos Sunday morning after a passenger was accused of biting another traveler and attempting to fight others onboard. The incident occurred as Flight 3046 was approaching Philadelphia International Airport, having departed from Charlotte, North Carolina.
An audio recording reviewed by Fox News Digital captured the pilot alerting air traffic control about the situation. “He just bit a passenger, and he’s trying to fight everybody,” the pilot communicated.
The inflight disturbance prompted the crew to request police and emergency medical teams to be ready when the aircraft landed. The pilot expressed uncertainty about the cause of the passenger’s behavior but mentioned the possibility of a mental health crisis. Law enforcement was suggested as a precautionary measure to assist EMTs.
A statement from American Airlines confirmed that the passenger was experiencing a medical emergency. A medical professional onboard provided assistance before the flight landed, and further medical personnel met the passenger when the plane reached the gate.
“Medical personnel met American Airlines Flight 3046 at the gate for a customer experiencing a medical emergency,” stated the airline. “We appreciate the actions of our team members and the medical professional on board who assisted the customer as the flight arrived safely at Philadelphia.”
As the communication between the pilot and air traffic controller ended, the controller wished the pilot a happy Father’s Day. “What a day, huh?” remarked the pilot humorously. “I’ll be sure to tell my daughters about this one.”
