Dallas Cowboys’ George Pickens Faces Uncertainty Despite Signing Tender

The Dallas Cowboys are experiencing uncertainty regarding their star wide receiver, George Pickens. This follows his signing of the one-year franchise tag tender. The main issue is whether Pickens will attend the team’s mandatory minicamp next week. Previously, he missed the team’s organized team activities (OTAs).

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb remain optimistic about Pickens’ attendance. However, considering his previous behavior with the Pittsburgh Steelers, others have doubts.

Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk issued a warning to Pickens about his attendance. Florio stated, “Pickens embracing the one-year deal and hoping to show that the three years in Pittsburgh were the aberration, the trend is what he did last year in Dallas.” He emphasized the importance of Pickens attending the minicamp, noting that failure to show could lead to speculation about his motives. Florio continued, “Why would he give up $100,000 in fines when all he had to do was not accept the tender until after the mandatory minicamp?”

The Cowboys face a significant question about Pickens’ attitude. Is he willing to prove his commitment to earning a bigger contract, or do concerns remain about his future with the team?

Until Pickens makes an appearance, worries about a potential holdout or trade request persist. However, team reports indicate that the Cowboys have no plans to trade Pickens. Pickens is reportedly focused on playing the 2026 season to secure a substantial contract extension next year.
